Congratulations to our Nailsea Bowls Club true
Champions of Champions.
Yesterday evening, Nailsea bowlers Duncan Edler and David Benson, together won the final of the Clevedon & District Pairs Champion of Champions competition defeating finalists Clevedon BC bowlers Richard Long and Mel Brewer in an exiting final held at neutral hosts Chew Stoke BC. On an excellent green and on a very pleasant evening they got off to a reasonable start going 7-1 up after five ends. The Clevedon pair drew breath and fought back to 10 all after 12 ends, thrilling the spectators and C&D representatives alike. The final third of the match was decisive and C&D Chairman Duncan Crawshaw presented the runners up and winners post match under the watchfull eye of competition organiser Dave Byett. Congratulations all around for a good bowls match played in excellent spirit. Commiserations to Richard and Mell, but hearty congratulations to Duncan and David. Well done!
